Fife (Glenrothes) Airfield is wholly owned and run by Tayside Aviation Ltd. The Airfield was voted the best United Kingdom Airfield in 1998 by Flyer Magazine and "The Tipsy Nipper" licensed Restaurant, which is located in the Airport Terminal, holds a Scottish Tourist Board 3-Star rating. Next to the airplanes of the Tayside Aviation Ltd, expect lots of visitors on this popular field, private or military. Tayside Aviation Ltd welcomes spotters so contact them prior to your visit for an arrangement.
It is a very simple small airport with a west-east orientated runway, with hangars on both runway ends.
Fife airport is located west of the city of Glenrothes. From here, you will have to take the Kinglassie road leading to Kinglassie to arrive at the airfield.
From Kinglassie Raod, take a right towards the field. Take the first right here, into Osprey Road, to arrive at the hangars on the south side. From spot 1, you can get walk further along Osprey road to stand opposite the taxiway half way along the runway.
If you want landing aircraft, or preparing for take off, park your car at Osprey Road and position yourself near the runway. In summer, during evenings, you can walk to the north for a better position.
Continue past the runway and then take the first right. You will pass the hangars on the north side and can position yourself here. Photography will be into the sun however, except during evening visits in summer.
