KC-135A production question

Any -135 experts on here? I'm trying to find out exactly where along the KC-135A production line Boeing switched their internal c/n numbers from 717-100A to 717-146, and 717-148? I've found a single entry that says -100A were built 1956-57, -146s from 1957-58, and -148s from 1948-49. I have no way t...

Re: Airshow camera settings

Sorry. Can somebody please move it to the right forum. I don't know how, or if I'm allowed.

Airshow camera settings

I apologize if this question(s) are in the wrong forum. I'm about to go to my third (and last) airshow of the year and would appreciate any tips from the pros out there. My keeper rate remains at about 10 percent with most throw-aways due to blurriness. I typically shoot in AV mode and meter for the...

Re: 2011 Quad City Air Show, Davenport, Iowa

Good catch John 312. I had noticed the pilot had a U.S. flag patch on his left shoulder, but forgot to mention it. We'll call you John "Eagle Eye" 312 from now on.

"You have to check your exposure (over exposed) your background is way to bright."

I know. It was overcast and I overcompensated. I don't shoot RAW, so I corrected the photois the best I know how.

2011 Quad City Air Show, Davenport, Iowa

This set of Canadian Hornets was taken late in the afternoon on Friday as they arrived the day before the show for static display. There are also a few photos of one of them departing after the show on Sunday afternoon. 1. http://smitty1.smugmug.com/Airshows/2011-Quad-City-Air-Show/Friday-17-June-20...

Re: How do I selectively sharpen with cluttered background?

Thanks for the tip Iwan. I'm using the Magnetic Lasso that Johan suggested. Your way probably works well too, but sounds too complicated. I'm sure it's easy once you know how. I'll give it a try when I have (a lot) more patience.

Here's one more for you Chris. You'll have to wait a little bit longer for more. I'm very slow at editing.

Re: How do I selectively sharpen with cluttered background?

Thanks Johan, I'll look that up.

Johan, I just tried this "new" trick, and is saved me about 3/4 of the time it usually does. Thank you for the great advice.

How do I selectively sharpen with cluttered background?

I hope this is the correct forum to ask this question. I'll admit that as a novice phototgrapher, my photo skills are improving, but my editing skills need a lot of work. I use PhotoShop Elements (PSE) 10 and until recently, I would sharpen the entire image. Then someone gave me instructions on how ...

Re: 2011 Offutt AFB Open House & "Defenders of Freedom" Air Show

I'll post Offutt AFB "spotting" photos in a different thread from Offutt "airshow" photos. Is there a limit to how many photos per post or a photo size restriction?

Re: 2011 Offutt AFB Open House & "Defenders of Freedom" Air Show

Thanks for the compliments CONDOR and Stephan. I have more shots from that show, but mostly of the same aircraft at different angles plus a few warbirds. I don't typically photograph the smaller aerobatic acts. I also have shots from previous airshows at Offutt going back to 2005, as well as the Qua...

Re: 2011 Offutt AFB Open House & "Defenders of Freedom" Air Show

Monday morning following the airshow the E-3C Sentry and E-8C JSTARS departed for their homes. The 55th Wing RC-135W Rivet Joint 62-4132 was departing home base for a "mission". This aircraft is the first -135 airframe to surpass 50,000 flyinmg hours! http://smitty1.smugmug.com/Airshows/2011-Offutt-...
