Hi Dino,

It is the annual exerecise "So-Ka-En"(Fuji Sogo Karyoku Ensyu, Total fire-power exercise at Mt. Fuji)、held at Higashi-Fuji(Eastern Fuji) training area at Gotemba city, Shizuoka pref.
Attend at about 200 vehicles, 30 a/cs(F-2, C-130 and choppers), 30-70 cannons, 1,500-2,000 soldiers and 4-60,000 visitors.

JGSDF held this one-month-long exerecise every Augst and they show us their live-firing demonstration at the last week-end of it. The "So-Ka-En" means this one-month-long exerecise indeed, but for us(or usually), it means only the public show.
Min. Def. Japan collects public subscription in late July, but it is very difficult to get the entrance ticket.

Please use these Japanese terms for your further search; "総合火力演習" or "総火演"

During the Tsuiki O.H., F-15J 52-8956/304sqn. lost her left horizontal stabilizer's front edge and broke her left rudder. No one was injured.

A few days before it, a F-15 of the 2Wing(Chitose) lost its left afterburner during the training.

All the F-15 sqn. will be a bit silent because of the special inspection.

G'day Uni,

Thank you again for your help and information for my last trip to Japan in November. It was very helpful.

Do you (or anyone else) have any information about shows in Japan during the end of January or first half of February?

Cheers,
Motty.

Thanks Uni.

I thought that might be so but I noticed a show listed on the Scramble air show listing for January 10 so I wonderd if there might be more.

Would the JASDF still be flyinh during this time?

Cheers,
Motty.
