Four more F-39E Gripens handed over to FAB
On 24 November 2021, another four Saab F-39E Gripen (JAS39NG) fighters were officially handed over to the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force). The aircraft, serial 4101 to 4104 will be loaded on a merchant vessel and shipped to Brazil.
At the event were present lieutenant-brigadier Carlos de Almeida Baptista Junior, FAB commander; Carl-Johan Edström, commander of the Flygvapnet (Swedish Air Force); Micael Johansson, president and CEO of Saab; and Jonas Hjelm, senior vice president and head of business area aeronautics company.
In August 2020, Brazil's first F-39E Gripen was shipped to Brazil were it arrived on 20 September. Scramble Magazine reported on this first delivery on 15 September 2020. Brazil ordered 36 aircraft, 28 of which are single-seater and eight two-seater models. The 1st Air Defense Group (1st GDA), based in Anápolis will be the first Brazilian squadron to fly with the new fighter jet.
