RAF Air Tattoo Fairford 17-7

Post by Thermal »

Went to Fairford today. In the beginning the weather was cloudy, not many photo oppertunities. Later on it became a bit better.
Here some pics

I found the static a bit dissapointing for such a large (and expensive) airshow, lot's of the same. 8 F-16's, 6 Tornado's, 4 C-130, 4 Harriers etc etc. The Americans however made an effort. Especially the BUFF was niiiiice

What I came for

Ok out of focus, but still liked the shot

Sidewinders!

High speed pass, but my lense just can not cope what that high speed stuff :(

The BUFF

I must say the Apache had the most boring demo ever! No one was watching (maybe the fact that the Vulcan was taxying by and the B-52 was circling in the back had something to do with it)

OK crappy shot, but it's not every day that I get these two in one shot in front of my camera

All in all still a good day, with a happy ending

Nice try with the shots, unfortunatly the UK-audience really favor their history so indeed all attention goes to the Vulcan instead of the AH-64 (the most spectacular helie demo this year to be seen  ) ... Other thing that really kills the spirit is the ban on flares (but this comes with a reason).

I went to Fairford with 4Aviation... it was a good and smooth trip with some nice company. Thanx and well done!!! Anyway here some of my first results of the flying display... often under challenging light conditions. I hope you like them anyway:

Better change the title to RIAT 2010, so all pictures can go in one topic.

Here one of the Raptor on Friday:

I also took the 4Aviation coach. We were extremely fortunate with the weather in the afternoon. Almost clear skies and nice temperatures.
Thanks to all who joined us.
I must say the Apache had the most boring demo ever! No one was watching (maybe the fact that the Vulcan was taxying by and the B-52 was circling in the back had something to do with it)
The Apache manoeuvres were very exciting and unique for a helicopter. A helicopter is, however, much slower than a jet. The demo team tried to please everyone by performing a manoeuvre on either end of the long runway and this took way to much time. They should have centred their show at show centre, in the middle.

A couple from the static.
With a bit of patience some decent shots could be made.

And a few from the birds in the sky.
