Pinal Air Park - Marana, AZ

Post by Col »

A few photos taken during an overflight in November. Unfortunately we could not go below 3,500ft due to traffic in the area (Martinair B747 repositioning to Tucson).

Hopefully you find them interesting

Yeah i agree with Martijn the pictures are very intresting but i hate to see them actually, i wonder when the NWA/DL A330-300 (N804NW noted on the last pic in the left upper corner) goes back to the sky where it belongs.

Nice but indeed sad pictures. I flew over it myself a few times in the last few weeks (forgot my camera everytime *!@# ) and unfortunately it looks like the number of aircraft down there is growing by the week

BTW Colin: Pinal - Tuscon is maybe the shortest hop a 747 ever made (30-40 miles?? ). Do you know why it was going to Tucson??

And did you fly yourself or did you book a flight??

I believe this 333 just received a C/D-check or needs a C/D-check and is stored for the time being.

Hi Thermal

The pilot told me that they fly to Tucson to deal with Customs and other admin before flying back to Europe to return to service. It left Tucson the following day.

I flew wth Sorona Wings from Tucson

It saddens me to see all these aircraft stored, or worse, destroyed in the desert. :(

Last year I flew with Sonoran Wings! I can really recommend this company because they have made this trip for a lot of spotters allready so they know what you want!!

A question, does anybody know if there is a list on the net with an overview what is stored at Pinal?!

Thanks

I would be very interested to see such a list. I was provided a 'recent' list but I don't know the exact date of it and there are some obvious differences from what I saw.
