Leeuwarden 23/10/2009 FinnAF Hawks

Post by Johan »

G´day all,

As I missed the Ilmavoimat Hawks last week on their way to Cazaux I decided to visit Leeuwarden today to catch the Hawks during their tankstop back home.
The Hawks came in around 12 o´clock with about 2 hours delay. Weather at the moment was misty and a heavily overcasted. At about 14:00 the southern wind had succeeded to blow the mist north. Departes of the Hawks between 14:00 and 14:30 were blessed with a nice autumn sun combined with lovely autumn colours in the backdrop. Really love this season with its amazing colours!

It was really worth the drive!

Some pics, sorry I couldn´t choose :D

Nice pics, but they've raised one question... Did these Hawks receive new tails?

Michel

Nice pictures (look a lot like mine  )
A few remarks:
a. the first Hawk landed around 12:03 according my exif-info.
b. the first Hawk took off at 13:22 (and not between 14:00 and 14:30)
c. the last Hawk took off at 13:26.
d. The C295M took off at 13:38.
e. The last of the four F-16's landed at 14:09.

A few pictures from me (hard to find new angles as every-one stood within 50 meters of each other)

1 This was the weather like when they arrived:

Don´t know but definately looks like it. It´s clearly visible at the camo one, but the grey ones seem to have a colour difference between fuselage and tailfin as well. Someone can shine a light on this?

Bert, you´re complety right about the times  Thought I had a good memory, but exif tells otherwise

Nice work Jan, again proof that sunshine is desirable but not necessary for good shots!
To all the others, thanks for sharing these, I missed them :(
