China Southern 777s

Post by richarduk »

Following on from a brief discussion I had with Gatso76, I wondered how often the CZ 777s with a different config (B-2051/2/3/4) had visited AMS.

I was living here when the service started (December 1996 or 97?) and have a vague recollection that the first service was operated by one of these 4 (missed that one too!). I think they then used 767s for a while before moving onto the batch of 777s they use now.

Be interested to know if my memory is anything like reality, and whether the rare 4 have indeed visited over the years.

Cheers,
Richard

Richard,
The memory is pretty good..
They started with flights into AMS in nov96 with 767-300's.
At 04mar97, I saw 777 B-2053 here (was that the first 777-service?), but on 01aug97 I bagged a 767-300 again, B-2564! Probably due to low demand they used a mix of 767/777's here that first summer. B-2054, the one that visited AMS yesterday, was also seen in AMS 19jul04..

Maybe for CZ, but I logged my first 777 at AMS on July 22, 1995... N768UA to be precise

I caught N777UA four days earlier on the 18th (fairly crappy weather as well, as I recall), I think that was the first scheduled service (there may have been a promotional visit earlier, not sure...)
