Re: Afriqiyah Airways Crash Libya 12-05-2010

Latest METAR says due westerly wind at 8 knots, so a missed approach (and climb out..) on RWY27 makes more sense than coming down on finals for RWY09. While still speculating, the fact that apparently no (big) fires broke out may suggest fuel starvation, which would be very strange indeed. FDR shoul...

Re: Bolivia to ban aircraft older than 25 years

Michael, are you sure your source means aircraft older than 25 years old cannot be on the register anymore (like you state) OR that aircraft older than 25 years cannot be imported (i.e. put on the CP-register) any more? My gut feeling says the latter is more likely, but I stand corrected. The latter...

Re: Shahjah 19-11

Ger, visit costs 1000 dirham. Just look at SHJ website for more info. I saw 21 Il-76s on Nov 13 (Friday), 5 of which moved, and probably about a dozen non-ABY airliners from 8:15 till 17:15. The 2 hour lunch is nonsense: you can stay on the ramp by the fire brigade and eat your sandwich or whatever....

Re: Mojave, CA (MHV) - 2009

Robbert,

went to Mojave two weeks ago. No F-4s present in front of the old BAe hangar, which used to be close to the airport admin bldg. The big hanger on the east side of the field, which used to be Avtel's hanger, now has big BAe titles. So maybe any F-4 would just be inside. Rgds, CJ
