Great pics of some great planes Stephan. That first Dak looks rather 'modified'. Definitely a country on my 'to-do' list, both for aircraft and nature. By the way, great South African Lightning shots in your other topic!

The complete absence of hardpoints under the belly makes me believe it's fake, but I'll try to find out more.

looks like the best TLP of this year, imo
It sure looks good, but it's hard to beat 2008-3 (Turkish F-4's and a huge variety too).

 Sorry (for the 2nd time in two days....)

Anyway, I meant to say that Frank's pics look sharper than mine. He used a Nikkor 300mm 2.8, I use a Nikkor 70-300. FYI, we stood next to each other so I can compare his pics to mine.

Strakke platen Frank! Die 300mm 2.8 is toch net een tikkie scherper dan mijn 70-300 (of jij hebt een vastere hand...).

Terribly sorry Sowald, thought I was hanging around in 't Praethuys. Short translation then: Nice warbird, small toned down civil reg. Max length for passenger flights 193cm so for me:  Wouldn't have paid the money required anyway, as a flight of 40min costs around € 11.000,-. A flight in a Hu...

Only the EC725 found it's way back
So that explains why we only saw the EC725 on thursday 11. It flew a local mission in the morning, before the TLP package took of, and it left in the afternoon.

Hi Lio,

were you there again today (11/9)? We saw a French Alpha Jet while we were still at the eastern end, but unfortunately it backtracked so it stayed too far away to read. We thought to have read 314-TU though and a serial ending in 7....

Kind regards,

Hi Piet (and others) Thanks for the message, even if it arrived quite a while after I left home.... It was exactly as the message says though: mission leaving at 11.15 (=9.15 UTC) and everything was back on deck around 13.30. Because of the change of command, we got a bonus in the shape of a ...

Hi Piet,

okay then, that might be a reasonable explanation! I'll cross my fingers and go then. By the way, do support aircraft for the departing planes normally arrive on friday or on thursday?

Perhaps not....I think that there's mission planned for today (10/9). I guess most participants will not be leaving on the same day that they still flew a mission. I hope someone can clear this up, as I had planned to go tomorrow but I might change this to friday so I can catch the participants at l...
