Re: KNZY/Naval Air Station North Island 29 May 2020 MIL/CIV

Yes, as far as I know from looking at Tactical Air Support's own website, these are all ex-Jordanian AF. They also have half dozen CF-5Ds, license built in Canada, those are all 2 seaters.

Apparently they came down from Reno to support Nimitz' pre-deployment COMPTUEX.

Re: KNZY/Naval Air Station North Island 29 May 2020 MIL/CIV

Hi! Glad to see you like the pix. I thought they were military until I saw they had N- registration numbers. Friday was overcast, but they were back out Sunday in clear skies. Sadly the F-18s were landing on 36-- too far for photos, but the F-5s were using 29. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/499...

Re: June2020: no more "active duty US Navy Orions", all P-8s

You don't always know when you will see a specific airframe type flying for the last time.

I feel fortunate I caught USN P-3s last October at Pt Mugu (VX-30) and during the Fleet Week air show in SF.

Do the Canadians still have their CP-140s?

Can you reconfirm F-5E 14 please? I thought it was N697TA, with N647TA being allocated code 06.
Andy
Ahh, you are correct. Looking at my paper log, my very sloppy 9 looks like a '4', but rechecking the photos, yes Brn 14 is N697TA. Fixed above.

KNZY/Naval Air Station North Island 26-05-2020

Half a dozen VFC-12 Hornets and a flight of TacticalAir F-5s have been flying in and out all week, along with some Lears. After a week of trying I finally got some pix which I will put up when I work through them. VFC-12 Fighting Omars 'Ambush' Red 04 BUNO 162875 F-18A Red 15 BUNO 162866 F-18A Red 0...

Re: USS Roosevelt

The Big Stick is homeported at Naval Air Station North Island, she left for deployment on 17 Jan with her battlegroup.

She also hosted Tom Cruise and Paramount for scenes from Top Gun: Maverick, in winter 2019.

Re: Super Hornets GAF ?

As I read it, the deal would be for 30 Supers and another 15 EA-18G Growlers to replace the Tornado ECR.

They can certify Supers or Typhoons fairly easily to carry the B61s, so I don't think that will be the deciding issue.

Can't find the original source document, but it's been widely reported that going forward, all USMC F-35 squadrons will contain 10 aircraft/squadron. https://seapowermagazine.org/marine-corps-to-double-uas-squadrons-reduce-rotary-squadrons-by-2030/ No actual data as to whether the total USMC buy of ...

Re: Nellis AFB/Red Flag 20-2 Las Vegas NV March 2020 MIL

I think I got the answer https://www.bundeswehr.de/de/ausruestung-technik-bundeswehr/ausruestung-bewaffnung/bombe-gbu-54 Yah, I think it is some version of JDAM (either -31 or -54). I've seen JDAMs at our air shows, they had the little stub wings on them, and I thought all JDAMs had them. Clearly, ...

I could be wrong about it though.... Ha ha, funny you should mention th...

I freely admit I am not really up on all the various types of external ordnance on European military aircraft.
