From an a-net point of view I'd say the Gulf is soft/undersharpened, maybe even suffering a little bit from heat haze. The 737 is maybe a bit too sharp, hence the somewhat grainy sky. Spend a couple of hours at LGG this afternoon because of the Belgian GP that was held today. How did you experience spotting in such conditions? You say you were spotting from a 'residential' area, how did local non-spotters respond to your presence? Would you consider it safe to go there on your own or are there security risks?
