Re: ANA 744: zonder winglets?

Re: Chania/Souda (LGSA/CHQ) - 2010 MIL

preserved Corsair at the US side is 160873. It was first seen there in August of 2008 (as I did), and still reported there in 2009. In 2008, I could easily read it when taxiing out aboard an airliner heading home (take off to the west) as we passed very close to it. According to other sources, 15993...

HAF A-7 was already present in 2008; have a picture of it back home. If no-one beats me to it, I'll check when I get home

Thanks

Re: Finnish F/A-18C turned into F/A-18D

Unfortunately, respected magazine Flight International got their facts mixed up... As we know, it is not a case of an F-18D that was repaired with parts of an F-18C, but the airframe of an F-18C that was converted into an F-18D. Furthermore, AFAIK it was "officially" nicknamed "Frankenplane" and not...

Re: Finnish F/A-18C turned into F/A-18D

(...), but I get the idea about leasing) Well, you get the drift. Probably would have been cheaper (in retrospect) to refit a Canadian CF-188B with a new F-18D cockpit ordered from McBoing... As for the 100.000 man hours: that was also what was mentioned in the press releases after this bird was ro...

Re: Finnish F/A-18C turned into F/A-18D

 well, if that's not a case of "Murphy's law" I don't know what is  That must have been the most expensive 3-month usage of an airplane the Finnish AF ever had. In the end, it just might have been cheaper to lease one from the US, Canada or elsewhere :| this is the same news story, but...
