Fort Worth NAS JRB/Carswell Field, TX (NFW) - 2011 MIL

Post by tally »

Here some notes from last Friday.

The QF-4 was in town to perform a fly over together with three F-16's of the Spads (Spad 21/23) at the DFW national cemetery. Two MIA fighter pilots were laid to rest that were discovered at a crash site in Laos. Their F-4 was shot down in November 1969.

Could you please confirm the first one, 86-0254, since this one was inducted into AMARG on 23 June 2010.
I believe the tail code should actually be "AT", is this correct?

VR-59 at the JRB here has(I'm reliably informed),been allocated new C-40A 166694.If this is correct and as Tally noted 165830 and 165833 here last Friday, the other VR-59 C-40A,165831 may have been transferred to the fourth navy C-40 unit(VR-56)?.

Hi Joris,

Typo in that tail number. It was 86-0245 and indeed the tailcodes were AT.

Hi Tally,

Outstanding log! VMFA(AW)-533 was passing through on their way to Iwakuni to replace -224 (currently returning home--perhaps they will pass through here) for UDP. They departed NFW for their next stop, Williams-Gateway (IWA).

Could 164782/ED-07 possibly have been 164872? Also, could the VAQ-209 (nickname Starwarriors) callsign have been Vader (sounds like Raider)?

Scott

They indeed departed for Williams. Hopefully 224 will come through Navy. Would be nice. I double checked ED-07 and you are correct. Log above has been corrected.

The callsign for VAQ-209 could indeed be Vader. Did some googling and seems like that would make more sense.

Thanks Scott.
