Manado, Sulawesi Indonesia. Any views?

Post by Harry Spotter »

Hi all,

Going to Manado in a few weeks for diving/snorkelling/etc., but I was wondering if there are any views around the airport building for snapping a few pics of obscure aircraft? Without getting in trouble with the local authorities of course.

Thanks!

PS, looking on Google Earth, it seems like the terminal has a viewing terrace!? Or am I wishful thinking?

Due to the overwhelming response, here is my own...

Just came back from Manado. There IS a viewing terrace, but I did not find the entrance to it. In the big entry hall there is no indication that you can go upstairs and after you go through customs, still no means to go upstairs. However, right below the terrace (yes, there definitely is one) is the Garuda lounge. Perhaps you can only go to the terrace via this lounge. I flew SilkAir, so no such luck. Shot some photos through the glass when waiting to board. A Garuda 734, a Batavia A320, a "Wings" Dash-8 and a Lionair 739ER. Heat haze is a problem when shooting further away...

Hope it helps furure visitors.

Appreciated, Harry. I assume you are the only member so far having been able to provide this info...
