Good evening,

Two recent visits to Kalkar provided some information which might be useful to the W&R or mil spotter reading this..........

Airfield: Kalkar/Wisseler Dünen
The hangar of this tiny glider airfield (which is in fact 5km North of Kalkar in the village of Wissel !) can be found along the Hellendornstrasse, close to number 41.
At the height of approximatley 2 metres the entire hangarfront consist of see-through glass, so with a small step...............
At the right hand side of this hangar can be seen the separated fuselage & wings of Sedbergh TX1 WB962/BGA3836, still in full RAF markings.
Noted this one Thursday the 22nd and Wednesday the 28th of March.

Barracks/Von Seydlitz Kaserne
Approximately 21km South of Kalkar along the Römerstrase the Von Seydlitz Kaserne is situated.
Visited this site Thursday the 22nd of March.
In front of the gate main easily can be seen:
29+05 F-104F Starfighter (camo, WS10 badge)
Patriot launch unit with one missile
Hawk missile
unknown missile (at least to me, not being a Nike) with the German iron cross
Checking at home I wondered where the Gina (33+10) could be found, which according to various EMOOS/W&R publications shouldn't be visible
from outside. To my surprise it's also close to the main gate, some 10/15 metres South-West of the Starfighter right behind the first
building left of the main gate. So I returned Wednesday the 28th of March to this site, and thanks to the leafless trees:
33+10 Fiat G-91R/3
Standing in front of the main gate about 1 or 2 metres right of the "Von Seydlitz" shield it can be seen (green/grey camouflaged parts,
and the dayglow part) between the trees. Furthermore going left of the main gate just left of the first building looking to the Starfighter
it can also be seen (just !) from behind.

Hopefully this is of some use to anybody,

regards,
Remco
