REQ: Fitland Mill (near Volkel)

Post by erik_kamphuis »

I am planning to visit the Fitland company in Mill saturday after the Volkel airshow. I have been there years ago and saw the Mi-2 inside. Now they should also have a F-104, CH-53 and/or Atlantic fuselage, but on google-earth no planes are visible outside! Does anyone know if some of those planes are outside (to photograph)?
I know the company is saturdays only open from 9 till 13.00h.

Only the Atlantique is outside. The Mi 2 and F-104 are both inside.
The CH-53 is back to Baarlo.

It looks like an easy target. It's outside and 8 meters high upon a steel construction........

Are the Mi 2 and F-104 near the entrance???
Or could they be seen from the entrance?

According to http://www.eurodemobbed.org.uk/index.php?location=2744" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; both are hanging on the ceiling, where the F-104 is behind the window. Could imagine that both could be visible, but perhaps it's best to drop by during opening hours...

From outside:

F-104 is visible (serial readable) through the top windows, at the Hoogveldseweg-side of the building. Best to be viewed by taking some distance from the building (cross the Hoogveldseweg for best view).

I'm not sure wether the Mi-2 is visible from outside the building. I wasn't able to see it last winter, but because I'd already seen that Mi-2 somewhere else before, I did not try my very best to see it.

The Atlantic cannot be missed, just drive up the big parking lot of the gym.

Regards,

Stephan

Hello all,

This morning I’ve made a visit to this location to see the aircraft.
The site is a complete building site, but the hotel seems to be open.
Follow the carpark signs (left around the buildings) to park your car in front of the parking lot of the hotel.
The gates were open and the large door on the back of the large building was open, so easy to see the F-104 and Mi-2 hanging on the roof.
The building was very empty and official not open.

The following aircraft were seen:
61+10 Atlantic ex German Marine on poles outside
23+92 F-104G ex German Air Force hanging on the roof
94+51 Mi-2 ex German Air Force hanging on the roof, SAR mks

Best regards,
Arno Cornelissen
