Q about the Frecnh C-160's

Post by hendriks »

hello,

I'm trying to get my data on the French C-160's correct.

As far as I know (by the internet), the FAF ordered 50 C-160F's and 25 or 29 C-160NG's. Some of the F and NG's where upgrade to the R version.

4 NG's went to H models and 2 to G models.

Who knows the serials of the NG versions.

Thanks in advance for answers

Construction numbers F201 to F235 are the NGs. 29 of those went to the French, the other 6 to Indonesia (civil). French original serials where F201 to F227 and H01 to H04.

Note 1: F219 and F220 have become H01 and H02. I am not sure if the F number have ever been worn (I think not).
Note 2: c/n F205, F207, F208, F233, F234 and F235 went to Indonesia

C-160H Astarté (Avion STAtion Relais de Transmissions Exceptionnelles)
H01 c/n 222, later coded 59-BA, was first registered as F-ZJUS, seen as such at Bordeaux–Mérignac Apt 03/08/86 (WFU Cateaudun and scrapped)
H02 c/n 223, later coded 59-BB, was first registered as F-ZJUT (WFU Chateaudun and scrapped)
H03 c/n 231, later coded 59-BC, was first registered as F-ZJUB (WFU Chateaudun and scrapped)
H04 c/n 232, later coded 59-BD, was first registered as F-ZJUC (WFU Chateaudun and scrapped)
The four C-160F worn an "F" number before modification to H. Later in service with Electronic Squadron "Bigorre" (EE 01-059) from 1992 to 2001.

Nice info Bennie! So it seems that the were built with F numbers first before modification to H standards.
I found this additional info: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/C160H_Astart%C3%A9
Photo of three C-160H's (+1 R) at Chateaudun AB in 2011: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tonggun/8526355344
