Luxemburg W&R (LOG + INFO)

Post by patrick dirksen »

Hi all,

I visited the small open day at Luxembourg-Findel and did some W&R on the way back. I also did some research into Luxemburgs "warbirds". The report on the open day is in the Airshow section.

Bissen

488 MiG-23ML pr, JG 9 mks

This is still present with the private collector at N49.78665, E6.06549, but is inside a purpose built shed now. No way to see it without access. Many of the instruments in the cockpit still work.

Maulusmühle

FK803 Hudson IIIa pr, weckage (w.o.21.3.45)

Parts of the wreckage are here at N50.09282, E6.01981, serving as a monument for the crew that perished with the aircraft. Note the sign next to it gives the registration as FK308, but you can still read the registration on the rear fuselage. Whether it is enough to "count" is up to everybodies own standards.

In between I tried to find L-19 LX-PAB that should be preserved inside the Massen shopping centre in Wämperhardt, but if it was still present, it was not on public view. This Birddog used to be based at Findel, but was written off after a crash in 2010 and was subsequently stored there before being sold on. I am trying to get hold of the owner of the place to get information on its current whereabouts.

I also have a few updates on the listing in EMOOS (some might not be new, but others will be for sure).
  • L-21B LX-PAA (R-125) became D-ENAA already some years ago, but was sold and moved to Cannes only very recently (seen there in January of this year)
  • Casa 1.131 LX-ZAZ (E.3B-430) is not in light blue anymore but in mainly white. I am trying to get confirmation it is still based at Findel.
  • L-4 LX-WWT (42-36630) moved to Chambley, where it was seen in stored condition in September 2022.
  • SC-7 F-GTHI (Arg AF PA-53) became N161WW and moved to the other side of the ocean
  • Casa 212 F-HBMP (FAF 387) moved to Lapalisse (and is also mentioned there as well in EMOOS)
  • SA.341 YU-HBB became RA-1233G and was written off on 19.9.2014
If somebody can tell me what happened to C.212 T7-JCR (Malta AS0925) tha used to be stored at Findel I would love to hear it!

That's all folks!
Cheers,
