Museum Gatow

Post by Erik V »

Goodmorning!

I am planning a visit to the museum in the next couple of weeks and I am curious if anyone have visited the museum lately and can confirm that some of the stored a/c (like the French Meteor) are still outside due to restoration of (some of) the storagehangars?

Thanks in advance!

Erik

Hello Erik.

I was there in late April and I didn't see a French Magister or any other storage aircraft outside, I think. New for me were a Transall (with a terribly placed information panel killing photos) and an Aussie C-47. There was also a Bo 105 hull near the righthand building. Some of the GDR aircraft have been nicely repainted. The orange Canberra was missing.

Please give me some more examples of the storage aircraft if you want to be sure.

The central hall, were the Bf 109 and the Skeeter used to be, is closed. In the left hall there's a 'new' Fw 190 (682060) and the CASA 2.111 that was displayed in Rotterdam in 2015, on poles.
