Visited Leuchars last Monday between 10.30h and 14.30h local and noticed the following;

Gateguards:
ZE967 UT Tornado F3
XT864 A Phantom FG1

Flying/parked:
Tutor T1:
G-CGKP
G-CGKJ
G-CGKN
G-CGKM
G-CGKK

Typhoon T3:
ZK382 FX
ZK381 EX

Typhoon FGR4:
ZK344 BQ
ZK337 BY
ZK327 EJ
ZK329 FH
ZK336 FD
ZK311 EK
ZK342 ED
ZK313 EN
ZK302 (no tailcode)

Falcon 20 (Cobham):
G-FRAW

Also ran into these remains on the South side of Leuchars, between the shelter area and the fire fighting training area yesterday. Does anyone have a clue what she was and what her regi was?? (Seems like a Jet Provost??)

Hi Ruud,

I haven't heard of this one before, but am trying to find out the id. In the meantime, do you have the coordinates of the exact location?
Cheers,

Hi Patrick,

Her location was/is, as mentioned, between the HAS, and firefighting training area, so roughly 56 22'27N / 2 50'22W. but as mentioned, I couldn't get there so I don't know the exact location/.....

Morning all,

In the continuing regular attempts to avoid Christmas, over the next few days I shall walk around as this JP is clearly on visible from CG4 from Reres Wood. This explains why none of the regulars have seen it and of great surprise to me and no doubt others. Little chance of identing what may simply be a forward fuselage but investigations will continue. With contacts rest assured I shall uncover this though is not required here.

Regards
Rick

Thanks Rick,

She's clearly visible from accross the runway, I took pics from the crashgate at 56 22'42.02"N/2 50'34.01"W and from the corner of the fence at 56 22'40.83"N/2 50'48.38"W,
I'm looking forward to the outcome of your investigation!

Afternoon all,

By way of confirmation, although I believed it unlikely to be the Leuchars one, the Jet Provost T3 XM412 on display at Balado Bridge airfield near Milnathort in Perth & Kinross was noted today 30th December as in situ and whole. I hope to be checking out the JP frt fuselage at Leuchars within next few days in more detail.

Have a great New Year all.

Evening all,

First time up to Leuchars today since last message for getting round the back. Had a really good look with telescope and telephoto walking right up to threshold lights from where it is barely visible. Complete enigma. No identifier markings of any sort and stbd side appears to have some form of tarpaulin now blown off. Clearly a clean cut forward fuselage without any nose. Has apparently been seen in a compound but will require a pressed-against-the-glass look at it which I am unlikely to be able to do.
Do not now believe it to have been in that position for that long as would have been noticed before now as that Crash Gate is quite well frequented. May now be down to tracing all extant noses around the UK but as it stands no view outside or locals knowledge can assist.

Sorry.

Thanks for the effort Rick, guess this will remain a questionmark in my books untill someone is able to tie things up or to get to that fuselage for an eyeball ID..

Evening all,

On 26th February 2014, this front fuselage was extant. Today, 6th April, during another walk round the back of Leuchars it is confirmed that the fuselage has now gone. No sign of it at all but can not confirm that it has appeared elsewhere on the base as yet. If it has shall advise but certainly gone from previous position - possibly scrapped in run-up to base closure with RAF.

Rick
