F-16s to Duluth

Anyone heard the last three departing today on the boomer maybe? Would be nice to know the serials.
Did the final three F-16's destined for Duluth actually leave on Friday 28 May 2010?

I have 6 possibilities (ie. aircraft that I haven't seen reported afterwards). Could someone please update this list with newer 'last noted' dates to deduce the three aircraft?

90-0813 rd apr10
90-0818 rd mar10
90-0829 rd may10 '22FS'
90-0843 rd may10
91-0419 bl sep08 - reportedly unrepairable at SP and sent to CONUS?
91-0474 bl aug09

Apart from these aircraft, 4 aircraft are known to still reside at SP of which I have outdated information. These should be all wearing 480FS markings by now. Could someone please update the list below with newer 'last noted' dates of the old markings?

91-0338 rd apr10 (480 aug10)
91-0366 bl may10 ('480FS' aug10)
91-0416 bl jun10 '52OG' (480 aug10)
91-0417 bl aug10

Many thanks in advance!

I had already noticed that. On 13 August 2010, 480th FS was reactivated. I suspect that the On Dutch Wings website therefore uses this date as the oldest 'last noted' date for all F-16's that they put under the 480th FS, and I am not convinced that these l/n dates are actual sightings (unless otherwise proven, and I will stand corrected!) but just database filling 'parameters'. In my personal opinion, that is bad practise for database integrity and quality. I would rather like to see an outdated database with 'real' information than a database with assumptions in it (which is an assumption on my side btw...).

Hi Joris/all,

It was wrong from me to assume these serials as belonging to the 480th FS, I have learned from this and it will not happen again. I discovered my mistake sometime after I'd deleted all the info about the 22nd/23rd FS, because of this I completely lost track of the situation.

And you're right about the 13.08.10 date, this was the day both the 22nd/23rd FS stopped to excist and the 480th FS was born. I used this as a reference/starting point for future sightings. Normally I only use "mm/yy" for the last note date, exceptions are information that has been found in press releases and usually contain transfers that have not (yet) been noted by the spotting community, then I use the full date (dd.mm.yy). An example is E-3C 82-0007 which arrived at Tinker AFB on 18.11.10 for upgrade to block 40/45 configuration with the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC).

Now, for clarification, the current dates for the 480th FS are as follows: the ones with 13.8.10 as l/n have NOT been noted with the 480th FS, all the others have been noted after 13.8.10 and are confirmed as being with the 480th FS.

An overview: a press release stated that there are 30 (from my memory, is this correct?) a/c assigned to the 480th FS, I have 31:

Not all a/c have been repainted yet with the new "Warhawks" tailband.

The following 18 (20?) SHOULD be assigned to the 179th FS/MN ANG:

d/d 27.4.10: (only 4 made it to Duluth this day, did 341/349 go to OO-ALC first?)
F-16C 91-0336 CC-34 ANG 148 FW 179 FS 7.10 Duluth IAP MN 7.10P; 22FS mks

d/d 27.5.10:
F-16C 90-0831 CC-31 ANG 148 FW 179 FS 5.10 Duluth IAP MN
F-16C 91-0408 CC-106 ANG 148 FW 179 FS 5.10 Duluth IAP MN

F-16C 96-0082 CC-204 ANG 148 FW 179 FS 5.10 Duluth IAP MN

d/d 29.5.10: 91-0464 (+ 90-0829? and 90-0843?). 91-0474 was noted in November. 91-0464 was seen last June at Edwards still in full 22nd FS markings.

Obviously I'm looking for sightings of the a/c that still have the 13.8.10 last note date, can anyone help?

If anyone has updates/corrections, please let me know!

Best regards,

Hi,

A press release stated that a crew chief dedication ceremony was held on 13 August 2010 for 29 crew chiefs, so I suspect that amount equals the number of F-16's at Spangdahlem.

That would back-up the numbers I have:

18 departed to Duluth
1 departed to Edwards 29may10 (91-0464)
1 to be repaired in CONUS (91-0419)
26 confirmed with 480FS (according to my own list)
5 status unknown (probably 2 more to CONUS 29may10 and 3 still on strength)

You could be right but 91-0419 won't be repaired, it is wfu after to many failures with unknown reason.

I did some digging in the news releases and came up with the following:

21 a/c departed; 20 to Duluth, one to Edwards
http://www.spangdahlem.af.mil/news/stor ... =123201484
"The six aircraft are the first of 21 that will depart the base. The remainder of the aircraft will depart in increments scheduled to be complete by the end of May as part of CAF Restructuring. Twenty aircraft will transition to the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard, Duluth, Minn., while one F-16 will transfer to Edwards Air Force Base in California."
http://www.148fw.ang.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123202640
"The planes, the first of 20 the Air Force is transferring from the 22nd Fighter Squadron at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, will replace the 148th's current Block 25 F-16s."

29 a/c remain: http://www.spangdahlem.af.mil/news/stor ... =123217686
"Twenty-nine of the wing's dedicated crew chiefs were each assigned an F-16 Fighting Falcon during a ceremony today, recognizing them as the maintenance experts on their respective aircraft assigned to the 480th Fighter Squadron."

So I will ask the question again: does anyone have sightings/photos after 29 May 2010 for the following a/c (if yes, when?) :

90-0813 (480FS?)
90-0818 (480FS?)
90-0829 (179FS?)
90-0843 (179FS?)
91-0412 (480FS?)
91-0417 (480FS?)
