HMS Cornwall 1997

Post by jabshuis »

Hello All,

Long ago, in March 1997, HMS Cornwall visited the port of Amsterdam, together with a Canadian ship. The public was allowed on board. There were Sea Kings on the deck.
Did anyone take note of the serials of those helicopters?

Thanks in advance,

I have a Royal Navy sea king in my books at 22nd of March. XV660/511 being a HAS-6. Unfortunetaly didn't take note of the location or ship, but I believe it was in Amsterdam on deck of a ship.

Hiya!

That box of Scrambles is quite dusty... :-)

From Scramble 214 page mar 057:
Stanavforlant: 14 till 20th of March 1997 Amsterdam Harbour:
12412 CH-124A on board HMCS Fredericton
XV660/511 SeaKing HAS6 HMS Cornwall
270 SH-14D HrMs Van Ness

Scramble 215 further specifies that the Canadian chopper was based at De Kooy during the visit, and that the ships were moored at the (then common) Oostelijke Handelskade.

Grtz,

Thank you, guys!
There was indeed just one helicopter present - and that was the one.
