I'm trying to compile a list of Stearmans / Kaydets currently in Europe and their owners / operators. I already have most details for Stearmans and their owners based in Belgium and the Netherlands, but I'm lacking much data on machines in other parts of Europe.
Since most Stearmans / Kaydets in Europe are on the US register and not in their national register, it is quite hard to create this list. The FAA register is useless in this, as it doesn't usually register the true owner or operator, but just a trust in the US that is the contact for insurance and legislative affairs. This is especially an issue for machines based abroad, which is what I'm looking for here.
I can really use some help with this, and that's why I call everyone with knowledge on the existence of Stearmans / Kaydets and their owners outside of Belgium / Netherlands to contact me. I'd like you to help me with the following details of the aircraft:
- Serial, construction number and exact type of the Stearman / Kaydet,
- Base of operation of the machine,
- If you can help with details like name, full address, e-mail address and telephone number of the "real" owner and/or operator of the Stearman, this is very much appreciated. With "real" I mean the person / organisation that is operating the plane in Europe, not the person / organisation that is mentioned in the FAA register, as for European based N-reg aircraft this is hardly ever (if at all) the true owner or operator.
Even if you know of someone who is a Stearman operator or owner, please urge them to get into contact with me. You can post your details here in the forum, or - if you like to keep the information more private - send me a PM with the requested details.
