landing gear doors not closed??

Post by js51672 »

Hi
I found a picture of a Turkish 340 on last final, just before landing
http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6738791" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
looking to the Landinggear doors, I think they are not correct locked/ closed
Is that normal for this airplane??

greetings,
Jeroen

No Jeroen, this is not normal. All doors should be closed during the landing ;) In this case I think there was no damage,
because they where not totally opened. Otherwise, they could chafe over the runway, if the plane should be totally loaded.
Nice picture by the way! ;)

edit: I don't now what would happen with a A-340, but a Boeing 747 can't open these landing bay doors when it's on the ground,
while it's loaded with fuel, passengers or cargo. The doors will hit the ground ;)
