Best way is to take a taxi. Will cost you some money, but better than taking a bus. I tried that a few years ago and halfway there I was kicked out of the bus.... in the middle of nowhere... for no reason (or at least not understandable to me). I did get the few cents i paid for the bus back from the lady though....

This is how I got there:
Ask somebody at the desk in your hotel to write the name/location (Xiaotanshanzhen, if I am correct) in Chinese on a piece of paper. Then show this to a taxidriver.
Do not forget the name/address of your hotel in Chinese, for the way back.

Enjoy it!

in fact there are 3 aircraft museums in Beijing. The most wellknown is the "Datangshan" museum which is the China Aviation Museum near Xiaotangshan. The Beijing Aviation Museum is located in the city itself on the grounds of the University of Aviation. The third is the Technical Museum.

Was in Beijing last summer. Unfortunately "Datangshan" was closed for the public at that time because of the rebuilt for the 60th anniversary. Went by taxi, for nothing, and is the best way to do. Museum opened again on the 1th okt.

The Beijing Aviation museum is not anymore. All the hangars are broken down, in fact they where working on it when I arrived. All planes are still there, but parked all together in an compound with high fences around. Was not my lucky day.

You are lucky Between 1 October and 15 November it is open for Chinese Military Personel only!
At this moment also operational aircraft like J10 single and dual seat versions are on display.

The J10 I saw in may was a mockup, the J11 was real! (no serial unfortunately :( )

Chinese military aircraft don´t wear serials, only regimental codes... you´ll need the c/n to really identify one.

Unfortunately they used the new halls to stuff as many aircraft as possible.

Also J10 1001 is in there which is the first pre-production proto (and which had the same code all its flying career).

Ehh, the greatest difference is that the Chinese one is still in production, for domenstic use, so as H6. Although it could be that the latest version (H6M) is a H6D conversion 'only'.

J10 1001 is believed to be proto #1 ex 01
J10S 10132 is the mock-up
J11B is a static test airframe that saw any grey paint for the first time in the museum.

Other nice new entrants are (hangared):
MiG-23MS ex Egypt
F-5A ex Taiwan/Vietnam
F-5F ex Taiwan
