I really don't know why people love to hate Ryanair. Everyone is always complaining that air travel is expensive, well Ryanair answered their calls. A low cost, no trills bus service, to popular destinations. All that count at the end of the day is the bottom line. Some of their "cost cutting" measures are somewhat extreme, i agree, but most of them are mentioned once and never heared of again.

I'm getting really annoyed by people publicly slagging Ryanair, but meanwhile they still fly with them to Mallaga every summer. Personally i think we owe a great deal to Micheal O'Leary, Europe has never been so readily and cheaply available to us.

Just my 2 cents worth,
Dirk.

Hi,
I agree with Dirk , people complaining and still travel with Ryanair!
It's a bit strange!!
It's the same with traffic- jam's, people complain , but always take the car :?:
At the end of the day the thing that really matters is that you get at your destination.
If I remember well , there was a program on tv about Easy Jet ,where it seemed that they never had a good service and a lot of delays.
Well if there is so much complaining why are the still flying?? .
So I'm right behind you on this , Dirk.

Let me first state that I have never flown Ryanair (yet). Will do it once, just to fly it, but I am certainly never going to be a frequent flyer with them.

The problem I have with Ryanair is that they advertise with very low fares, but in most cases the bottom line is not that low at all. Due to all the extra fares it can become extremely expensive for a large number of passengers. Extra fares for checking in extra fares to have a certain seat, extra fares to take luggage etc etc and not to forget, high costs for the passenger to go from the airport to the town. It comes close to a rip off if you ask me. In general, I try to avoid any airline that charges me extra after the ticket has been issued.

Some good points you make there Erwin,
Ryanair do sometimes pick the most remote airports, no doubt to save on landing fees and such, but to be honest they are not that bad. I mean any other airline must use the same airport, they can't just land in a field. Don't know if you saw the program, many people where giving out about the distance thing, you know, fly with Ryanair and than having to travel another 50 miles to their final destination. If they are that bothered about it why don't they find an airport closer to their destination and pick another airline or stick with it and keep their mouth shut. They cant just land in the front garden just to satisfy the costumers. These kinda arguments just don't make any sense. Airports aren't that widely spread.
I do agree, some of the extra's are plain crazy but hee, what can we do??

(Hope this doesn't sound like a personal attack, just wanted to elaborate on your points Erwin. If it offends i'll gladly remove it.)

Regards,
Dirk.

Well this exactly what "having the right to choose" means.

Ryanair clearly offers a different product than main line carries.
You have the right to choose.

Just don't complain about what you choose.

Passengers going to Paris, but buying a ticket to Beauvais should not complain about bus fares !!
People living in the town of Beauvais don't complain about train or bus fares when they fly Air France to Paris CDG.

Not at all Dirk, I understand your points and I don't take them personally at all.
By the way, I didn't see the documentary, just reacting to earlier posts here. But to come back to yours now, I don't fly them because of, for example, the distant airports. So I think I do have a point (and not like you say "or stick with it and keep their mouth shut"). The distance also is just one thing, hard to get to is another. Usually the primary airfield is easily reached (like Dusseldorf or Frankfurt), the secondaries Ryanair flies to are not (like Weeze and Hahn). And with naming them to the cities, instead of using their real names, I find Ryanair also more or less tries to fool the passengers.
Indeed some of the extra fairs are stupid, so what can we do? Don't fly them, just like I do!

I really ment those people who complain, not you personally

I had a simular situation when I flew Ryanair from Birmingham to Dublin last summer. After I took a photo of the cabin, a very VERY unfriendly lady come up to me and asked me: "Why are you taking photos of the cabin ?" I explained her that I am an airplane spotter and that I like to take photos from all aviation-related things.
Then she nearly shouted at me that this was forbidden and that I should delete all photos from my camera. She stood next to me until I had deleted all the files.

Ryanair CC(cabin crew) sound like secret police rejects from some of the reports I hear of this excuse of an airline.

I've flown them a few times, the last time being in 2004 from Brussels South to Prestwick and they were quite cheap.,but with the installation of cramped unconfortable seats and a panopoly of hidden charges,I avoid them now.

I flew with then last Januari from Eindhoven to Pisa.
And it was a cheap flight and nothing special at all.
Sometimes irritating with the onboard sales like the scratch cards.
But if you expect something like that, I personally think that's not a problem.
It's only a flight of 1 hour and 35 minutes...

If it's the cheapest flight or best destination, I would book then again.

Hi,

I've no problem with Ryanair. They sometimes offer the best timing, or route, or price/route combination, and I know what to expect.
I pay nearly nothing, so I also don't complain about the creditcard fee, 3 Euro for an onboard coffee etc. It's all in the game, and I accept these additional 'charges'. In the bottomline, the overall expenses for the ticket/travel is still far below my other options (in my case, is probably not always the 'rule')

About photos in the cabin. So far I never had trouble. I pick 'the right moment'. Crew is not all the time monitoring the passengers, and I'm not taking pictures of a cabin like a freak. I can imagine that Ryanair have some 'internal rule' to look out for press or journalists who try to blame the airline for something or report negative about them. But as I said, I do it at a right moment, and maybe once or twice only during a flight. And out of the window is not a problem at all, but I only hide the camera when the crew does the neccesary checks before takeoff or landing. Outside those moments, no problem.

Cheers,
Eric
