Pics of the Belgian GP Formula one Spa- Franchorchamps

Post by Felipe »

Didn't see any pictures of the belgian GP. Maybe i missed it, but i will kick off with a few..

Quality is not the best, i made them by accident all in jpeg and i had to crop a bit more then i expected, but just to start a topic with nice pictures just like last year..

First the pitwalk on thursday, I realized there that the F1-fans are worse then a crowd of spotterswho want to take a picture of a nice coloured german F-4..

Then the race.. The ditance to the track was more then i thought so the pics are a bit disoppointing, i also shot them accidentely in jpeg, so don't shoot me on those..

Nice pics Felipe, allow me to join in as well. Still busy sorting out my 1800+ pics from two days. Here a first few examples from the Saturday the 29th. All pictures have been taken just before or in the Rivage (aka Bruxelles) hairpin. The Spa GP F1 was breathtaking as usual!

Fernando Alonso

Fisichella while setting pole position on his name

Sebastian Vettel

Robert Kubica struggeling

Formula Masters, a very nice league as well

GP2: Guido van der Garde, 6th during this first race, won the second race on Sunday

Clos with red-hot brakes (those marks should read 'afterburner' :) )

Mortara with a flaming exhaust (what did I say about afterburner  )

Awesome maurice!! Much better.. How much mm's do you need overthere to make a close up of Fisico like you did? Are you really standing that close to the track?

Really nice pictures!
Damn it was bussy with the Pitwalk
I was at Spa Vriday, Saturday and Sunday.
It was as always really nice! :D
With the Race i stand in Le Combes, and in the first lap crash 4 drivers! (Algesuari,Grosjean,Hamilton,Button.)
It was very nice to see the crash, and really nice to see my favorite driver, Kimi Raikonen, wins!
Overall, it was a great weekend! :D

Hey,

Just noticed my buddy Mo put his first pics online. Although I have the same problem, sorting out over 2000 pics, I can give you a first impression.

These first 3 pics were made Friday during first practice from the same location as Mo. Conditions were very bad (dark and a lot of rain, the typical Spa weather), but was still able to get some decent shots..

Fernando Alonso:

Heikki Kovailanen:

Romain Grosjean:

Second practice on Friday, location start/finish straight, with a lot of sunshine:

Fernando Alonso:

And finally 2 from qualifying on Saturday with cloudy skies:

Lewis Hamilton in typical Lewis style:

Sebastian Vettel:

As said before, still a lot to sort out. Already noticed 1 funny thing, all Luca Badoer pictures I made were sharp and, even with 1/125 shutter speed, looking quite frozen...

More to come!!

Mark

Very nice pics guys, I like the ones with the wet track a lot!
Looks like you guys had better tickets than I did (Bronze), so I had to shoot
through a chainlink fence (the special camera holes were taken, even when
arriving before 8 in the morning). Here's one of the race, the winner:

Well, these pics were all shot from the bronze area, actually quite close to the spot you made your great Kimi picture!

Hmm... Seems like your viewpoint was a lot lower (and closer) than mine.
I was standing in the turns after Les Combes, quite high up against the thick
chainlink fence. The location turned out not to be too exciting; no overtaking,
blocked wheels or anything, but I could follow the race quite well on the giant
screen. It was my first time at an F1 grand prix and because it was
mega-crowded, I didn't try very many photo locations. Found me a spot and stuck to it.
...and just enjoyed the experience. :)

On Friday, I was the chauffeur of Mark and Maurice. These are my results of a very pleasant day!! (despite/thanks to the rain during the first practice session).

Aha! I should have gone all the way into the Rivage turn (I thought that turn was Les Combes  )
Very nice and close up, but by the time I arrived at the circuit (8am) it was already quite busy at the front row.
Slightly further down the track, a bit less exciting and more distant, I had to settle for the following spot:
Image
I had to shoot through that fence and my lens isn't the sharpest wide open (100-400).
Oh well... Had a good time none the less! :)

You refer to the Canon 100-400mm lens? I used this one for all my pics. The rain shots and the Alonso start/finish straight shot were made with 400mm and only slightly sharpened. According to your exif information your beautiful Kimi shot is also made with 400mm and it looks quite sharp to me.. Any more of these to share?
