First of all, nice pic :) But with the description, you mean you actually were outside during the first storm?

Oh and mart, thanks, but I disagree with you ;) I think a lot of detail goes to waste thanks to the @%&@* rain.

Just one shot from me.
It was my first "Lightning" shot i have ever made.
Shutterspeed was 4sec on a low ISO 100, taken out of my car on the side window.

@ Jan Stol: yes I went outside to see and photograph the arrival of the first storm.
@ Mipo72: only 4 seconds exposure and already a flash captured! That's luck or a really heavy thunderstorm!

Yes,it was a heavy thunderstorm passing around 03:25 my house here in Purmerend.
We have lots of hail and every 4 to 5 seconds lightning from the thunderstorm.
I'll try it with 4 seconds and the first one was bingo.( and perhaps verry lucky.)
After this one i went to my collegue for the drive to Schiphol which was heavy on the road lots of water and lightning.

Next time i'll trying to make a few more.

-afstandsbediening
-wat nabewerken

hope you like them, please tell me what and how to improve

If we could only get such thunders!! :( Was a rather disappointing result here. Very few lightnings, only some SICK rain for 5 minutes. Anyways, looks like your first pic is little moved. The second pic is most impressive! 8) Great result, and that for 'a first time.' Hope there's many more to come.

thanks Jan! the first pic: i taught also it was moved, but i can't because i used a Tripod and a wireless remote-control. if you look good only the head-flash is double not the others side-flashes. maybe it really was a double flash???

Might be due to mirror slap. The other lightnings are too far away to have this effect noticeable, IMHO.

Hi...

How about this one?
On the run for a thunderstorm at 1500 feet, in front of us the sun and behind us...
We managed to reach Eindhoven Airport just before the storm hit us.
