Quick translation:

Lynx in Libya on transport

The battered Lynx helicopter is loaded on a flatbed trailer for transport to Tripoli. The helicopter, which stood on the beach of the Libyan coastal city Sirte since last year, is now transferred to the capital Tripoli. The helicopter will be transfered from there by a civilian maritime transport to the Netherlands. The Lynx is no longer airworthy, and will be dismantled and scrapped. The retrieval of the Lynx is aided by the Libyan authorities.

According to http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=82691 there are several "significant" people sympathetic to the idea of putting Lynx 277 in a Dutch museum...
Whether 277 will actually survive remains to be seen though...

its absolutely Ridiculous to spend that kind of money to get it back and scrap it. typical the netherlands. everything according to the book and lets spend a ton of money. Put it on one of the vessels and that will cover the trip home. I am pretty sure a museum will come and pick it up. My 5 cents.

Sending over a vessel just to pick it up won't make the operation cheaper.

If MODNL and/or the NL Government are that eager as to recover the stranded Lynx and transport it by the cheapest way back to NL, there have been opportunities.
The first was o/b HNLMS Zuiderkruis which returned from the HOA last december.
At present there is HNLMS de Ruyter (flagship SNMG1) which is operating in the vicinity of Crete.

I agree with Patrick, sending a vessel is much more expensive than 21.000 euro, even if the ship is in local waters.
Putting the helo in a museum will cost money. Cannibalizing the remains will produce more than 21.000 euro and the
recycling of metals will also do some good.
21.000 euro is not that bad.
The question;"Who spilled the information that put the lives of the crew at risk?", is much more interesting.

As http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?p=565369#p565369 shows Lynx 277 is probably still in Tripoli...
