F-35B VMFAT-501 mishap 27.10.2016

“With the specific F-35B involved in this discussion, the Marine Corps’ cost-benefit analysis determined the repair costs would not yield a sufficient ROI [return on investment] to justify the expenses,” Capt. Christopher Harrison, a Marine s pokesman, told Marine Corps Times. “The decision was made to strike the F-35B; the Marines have not put out an official strike message for the F-35B because the Corps has not decided whether the aircraft will be used as a trainer for maintenance or a museum centerpiece.”

And arrive they did.

Image916, 917 & 918 by Starman OK, on Flickr & you're just gonna have to take my word for the serials!

Interesting piece on the IAF official site, and I quote "Three additional F-35s landed Sunday at Nevatim Air Force Base ..... The planes joined the 140th Squadron (the Golden Eagle Squadron) ....." So it must be true.
Word on the "rehov" (hebrew for street) is that there is some infighting as to who will be the 2nd Fugly squadron, 116 formerly legacy F-16s at Nevatim were favourite, but 110 (former Ramat David F-16Cs) are pushing hard!

Follow up order for Japan is likely to happen. 20 to 25 new jets on top of existing order of 42 aircraft.

This just in: Congress will prohibit the sale of F35s to Turkey until a report is submitted on purchasing the S-400.
The Hill is evaluating all foreign military sales to Turkey not just LockheedMartin's F-35.
