North Korea Military Parade

Post by Frank »

Hi Guys

Yesterday on the news you could see that Dutch and other Western Journalists were invited to witness the giant Military Parade in Pyongyang (God, I wish i was there) I only have seen pictures of tanks and soldiers but has anyone seen videos or pictures of a flying parade ?

Would love to see it !

Thanks !

I haven´t seen any videos of this year´s parade, but if you want to see one, it is not that difficult. Contrary to popular believe travel to North Korea is possible and not that complicated. Only not for journalists, so if you intend to go there as a journalist you will probably be denied. This years invite for journalists was the first in a very long time and only because of a very special occasion (the public showing of the new, to be, leader).

Be aware though that even for none-journalists there are restrictions. Video cams are regarded as a taboo and with photo cams you can only takes pics when the acompanying official says its allowed.

But on the other hand, every tour has its own cameraman who films just about anything for you.

There are a series of free accomodation sites in that spotters may well end up if they travel to this country, otherwise known as concentration camps.

Maybo OK if you can survive on 1 small bowl of kimchi each alternate month.

Sure, but that happens in Greece as well. From my own experience I can tell you that if you behave it is not a dangerous place to go to and all tourist return from it. Of course, different rules apply, but it IS the only place in the world where you CAN see operational MiG-15s on a flightline....
