Romanian AF Mig-21 and IAR 330 Rescue helicopter lost

A Mig-21 disappeared after 8 PM local time.
The helicopter sent for rescue seems to have crashed because of bad weather, killing all 5 on board, following Romanian media.

Yep… the 5913… the only MiG-21MF converted to LanceR-C. It was converted from a LanceR-A a few years ago after the crash during a display which resulted in too few operational MiG-21s. It was pulled out of storage and upgraded.

#5913 was indeed special because it was stored for almost ten years after it was retired as a Lancer-A around 2010 or so. But what you say is not 100% correct Rob. #9611 was another regular MF which was converted to Lancer-C after #7017 crashed during a post conversion test flight from Bacau.
