FedEx Corp. said Tuesday it plans to acquire as many as 100 new Boeing 767 freighters,
the largest order :!: for the aging widebody jetliner that first entered service as a passenger plane in 1982.

The agreement with Boeing is worth nearly $20 billion at list price and includes a firm order for 50 new 767 freighter aircraft and options for 50 more of the jets, which carry a list price of $199.3 million, though buyers typically enjoy steep discounts on large deals.

In June, FedEx said it was accelerating retirements of planes both to reflect demand and to modernize its fleet, recording charges of $276 million. It retired 15 planes and 21 related engines, and said it would adjust the retirement schedule for additional aircraft.

Qantas Airways has announced an order for eight Boeing 787-9s that will be used to replace five of its ageing 747-400s and allow for future international growth.

The carrier says in a statement that it will take delivery of four 787s in the financial year ending 30 June 2017, with the remaining four delivered the year after. It has also taken 15 options and 30 purchase rights for additional 787s.

The aircraft will be powered by General Electric GEnx-1B engines.

Following the retirement of the five 747-400s, the airline will retain six -400ERs in its fleet.

Taiwan's Eva Air plans to purchase up to 24 Boeing 787-10s and two additional 777-300ERs, in a deal worth more than $8 billion at list prices.

The Taiwanese carrier told Flightglobal earlier this year that it was deciding between the 787-10 and Airbus A350-900 for its medium to long-haul needs.

Fleet renewal for TAP now really in the books: TAP ordered 14 A330-900, 15 A320neos and 24 A321neos. The A330 are instead of previously ordered A350s (that are now cancelled). Most surprising is the big upgage in short haul. From mainly A319/320 to mainly A321 in the new fleet. Great to see this added capacity.... just hope Lisbon Airport will be able to handle it....
