Spotting mil at Rimini
Hi All,

Next two weeks I'll be staying near Rimini for my holidays, can someone tell me if you can spot some mil planes or helo's at the airport?? (maybe time's of flights)
I already know that there is a museum near San Marino, where I will go to. Maybe someone has some other suggestions for me.

Thanks in advance, Brian.

Cervia? It's 30 kilometers northwest of Rimini (along the coast). Now home to a small helicopter fleet (the F-16's have left). Might also see some W&R there.

Hi,

Rimini-Miramare hosts AVES helos like AB205, A109, A129 and EH101s.
It's an open base, at the east side you can stay along the road in the approach, also civil (holiday traffic) a/c, can be seen if you are interested. AFAIK the helicopters operating from former F-104-HAS but also from the southern ramps. I am not familair with the west side approach....

Based AVES unit > Scramble -Air force overviews /Italy/army

In Sept.2010 83 Gruppo HH-3Fs moved from Rimini-Miramare to Cervia.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Maurits
kind regards,

Maurits

Ok, returned from Italy.

I will not bother with the aviation museum near San Marino. This is well known I guess.
Something that is interresting though is the road called SS13. Following this road from north to south I saw 1 Gina at a roundabout and a Jetranger.
The number of the Gina is MM6411/1 (Frecce Tricolore c/s) and the Jetranger was MM80577/E.I.516 (thanks to eurodemobbed.org.uk)

Furthermore my girlfriend and I spend a day at the amusementpark Mirabilandia. In this park there is a ride called Discovery (do not eat before you go on this ride:)). There are 4 beautifull mil airplanes preserved with the following numbers:

MM6935 F-104 G
MM54387 MB326 E
MM55-3030 T-33 A
MM6488 G-91 Y (my favorite:))

The F-104 is very difficult to photograph because of the trees, but the others are relatively good.

With many thanks and regards, Brian
