Tooday arr at LEMO F-16 flt Bird-01 "Thunderbirds" from stopover Vermont, support one KC-10 Reach-061 & one KC-135 Reach-051. Likely they will go to Airshow Turkiye 2011 at Izmir (2-4 june), last they will go to Airshow at Italy, Bulgaria, UK and Finland.

Associated Press - May 26, 2011 11:05 AM ET

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The members of the U.S. Air Force's precision flying team, the Thunderbirds, will be stopping at the Vermont Air National Guard base while on their way to Europe.

The eight F-16 fighter planes and a support plane carrying personnel and equipment are due to arrive Saturday at the Burlington International Airport where they will be hosted by the Vermont Air National Guard. They are not scheduled to fly in Vermont until they leave for Europe on Monday.

The National Guard says that Vermont is a preferred location for F-16s headed to Europe because of its proximity to the East Coast and the base's ability to support the F-16 aircraft used by the Thunderbirds.

I believe this was VMA-513 (serials, anyone?) en route to Kandahar as replacement for VMFA-122 F/A-18Cs, which returned via Lajes.

Nice catch. This should be the 335th FS replacing the 389th at Bagram.
