REQ: spotting at Bergamo-Orio al Serio (mil+civ)

Hi all,

Next monday I'll have a couple of hours to spend at Bergamo-Orio al Serio (or Milan-Orio al Serio as they call it... :? ) before my colleague arrives for a one-week tour of client visits together.
Can anybody give me directions to spots to watch from. I'm particularly interested in the Carabinieri choppers and the Esercito choppers at the maintenance facility, but I'm into civ as well, so a nice landing spot is welcome too. I will have a rental car available.

We are planning to visit this airport in our summer holiday. We've found already some info (partly in German). Please post your experiences from this airport after your visit.

Bergamo bietet zwei hervorragende Fotopositionen, die ich nun näher beschreiben möchte...
Position 1 befindet sich am Aufsetzpunkt Runway 28. Ab ca. 11:30 hat man hier bis in den späten Nachmittag hinein gutes Licht zum aufnehmen. Da ich kein Auto zur Verfügung hatte, bin ich jedesmal zur Position gelaufen. Zu Fuß sind das gut zweieinhalb Kilometer! Man muss zuerst unter der angrenzenden Schnellstraße hindurch laufen. Dann gelangt man in ein Industriegebiet, von wo man sich in Richtung Süden bewegen muss, um an eine Art Hauptstraße zu gelangen. Diese läuft man anschließend so weit richtung Osten, bis man an eine Brücke gelangt, die wieder über die Schnellstraße hinweg führt. Nachdem man die Brücke vorsichtig (!!!) überquert hat (Achtung, hier gibt es keinen Fußgängerweg!!!), kann man auch schon den Flughafenzaun und die Fotoposition erkennen. An dieser Stelle ist ein kleiner Tritt von Nöten, um über den Zaun hinwegschauen zu können. Ich selbst hatte einen Plastik-Mülleimer als "Leiter-Ersatz" dabei :-). Die zweite Fotoposition befindet sich auf dem hinteren Parkhaus westlich vom Terminal. Hier kann man sehr vielseitig aufnehmen - und benötigt nicht einmal eine Leiter!
Mit direktem Blick auf das Vorfeld können Maschinen beim Parken, rollen, abgestellte Flugzeuge und eventuell Takeoffs fotografiert werden, wobei letztere meistens schon zu hoch sind.
Ich empfehle, diese Position ab dem späten Nachmittag aufzusuchen, wenn das Licht an der ersten Position schlechter wird. Vor allem kann man dann gute Aufnahmen von abrollenden Fliegern machen, die am Terminal parken wollen.

Twee jaar geleden op Bergamo geweest,
Eigenlijk alleen om weer terug naar Nederland te vliegen, maar wel ERG vroeg ingechecked. Toen van de positie 2, op de Parking gebruik gemaakt, voor fotografie niet ideaal omdat er erg veel afhandelings rotzooi en lichtmasten het vrije zicht belemmeren. Weet niet hoe ver Pos 1 op dit plaatje van de terminal af is.

If you take spot 1 on the map that Joost provided, and drive on a little, you end up at the runway threshold. There is a good parking spot right next to it and you can stand at a crash gate (don't put your car there!). From there you can see planes lining up for the runway and you can get some landing shots, although you need a very small lense.....

Thanks already for the quick replies. Just one additional point: as I need my hand luggage allowance for the business stuff, I won't be carrying my camera along, just bins to crunch some numbers. Thanks again!

The German of the pervious post confused me.

all in all,
Bergamo has some nice visitors, besides the low cost airlines.
As well as a really nice old town-center.

Seen at Bergamo this morning was A109A-2 (MM81318)/CC-106

I arrvived yesterday at Bergamo and there were 2 A109's standing in front of the Carabinieri Hangar.
A third one arrived while I was leaving the airplane at about 0830lt.

I know a long shot... but if there is anyone out there who read those choppers.. please let me know!!
