Skrydstrup (EKSP) 2024

Post by Herby »

Some fact already written about many months ago will now obviously become true as two Norwegian AF F-16 (presumably BM) will fly to the Danish fighter base to train Ukrainian pilots.

Obviously two Belgian AF F-16BM will also arrive at Skrydstrup in the not too distant future. Together with the two Norwegian F-16BM (689 should be one of them) they will unfortunately used only for ground training, not flying training!

What's the logic behind sending B-models if they are to be used as ground trainers only?

A good question, but F-16AM all should be used in anger and have more internal fuel, to fight against the Russians.

The next delivery of F-35 will be in the third quarter of 2024 as the earliest. Because of this it is possible that some of the six aircrafts (L-001 to 006) used for training at Luke will relocate to Skrydstrup. To make up the gap some further USAF F-35 can be used in Arizona as an interim measure.

Interesting article about Canadian company Top Aces helping Denmark and France with training and educating Ukrainian pilots.

Time will tell if his even mean that in a few weeks some of their F-16 will arrive at Skrydstrup.

On 28.2. two Belgian F-16BM, FB17 and FB22, arrived for a short-time loan to train Ukrainian pilots. Even if Danish Fighter Wing operates with some three to four F-16BM during every single slot, there obviously is some need for further trainers.

The F/A-18C arriving from HävLLv 11 at Rovaniemi some days ago were HN-427, HN-440 and HN-442. They are flying together with the Danish F-16.

Still making regular training missions were Belgian AF/OCU F-16BM FB-24 in special colours and 689 of RNoAF.

For 2,1 Mrd. DKK, ca. 280 Mio Euro, Argentina will buy 24 F-16 from Denmark. The aircraft will leave „in the next years“, so presumably not before 2025/26.
