French "Mach loop"

Post by paul-760 »

At the open day in Nancy I spoke with a Mirage 2000D's WSO. He told me there is a kind of a French Mach Loop: the Vallee du Mars. This translates as Mars Valley and the name sure fits in between Mach Loop and Starwars Canyon.
It is in the Massiv Central. The village of Le Vaulmier is in the valley. It is north of Aurillac.

The Mars Valley is not part of the low flying network RTBA. This is convenient for aircrew because they don't have to book a time slot, like for the RTBA. The RTBA bookings are published on the web on a daily basis but are useless for the Mars Valley. The WSO said they use it often, but couldn't tell when he would fly through it again.

Does anybody have experience at the Vallee du Mars. What can be expected?
