Frankfurt 14-08-2013 (image heavy!)

Hello everybody,

here's part two of my two days at Frankfurt. That morning I got up early to catch the ANA B787. However, with the new runway, spotting has become a little more difficult as there isn't any pattern for the operations on the new 07L-25R. Except for MD-11's and A380's, all aircraft make use of the runway. During my two days at Frankfurt I noticed that all A330's of Lufthansa used the runway as well as the most flights from US carriers. Further than that, there isn't any logic. Spotting at the new runway can be done very good. If you're driving on the airport ring, follow the signs for the village of Raunheim. When crossing the bridge, you'll be driving towards a fire station. You can park your car in the curve and take pictures from there, or you can walk on the gravel path (closed for cars with a barrier, but you're allowed to walk there) alongside the runway. Eventually you'll reach some sort of dune from which you're high enough to shoot over the fence.

So, back to my dilemma. Where would the ANA B787 arrive? On the 25L, or on the 25R? I flipped a coin and 25R, the new one, it was! And it was the good choice!

1. And there it was! My first ANA B787-8, rolling out on the new runway, pictured from the curve at the fire station:

2. To illustrate how pictures can be taken from the dune, here's an example:

After seeing Lufthansa after Lufthansa I decided to relocate to the spotting location at 25L/C.

3. Frankfurt sees a lot of airlines from Asia which arrive in the morning, but depart in the afternoon. Most of these planes get towed to the buffers at the former Rhein Main Air Base. Here's Sri Lankan being towed to the buffer:

4. Very nice to catch this new airline for me:

5. How cool is this! My first A340-500! And such a beauty it is!

6. G-XLEA was also present today!

7. Air Europa isn't a regular at Frankfurt, but this one came in for an emergency landing:

8. Nice special livery on this Sun Express B737-800:

9. Not very special, but still nice:

10. Another Cathay, this time a cargo B747, taxiing out to the runway:

11. Arriving straight from Seattle on delivery; Lufthansa's newest B747-8:

12. This Vietnam Triple isn't so hot looking like the one of the day before:

13. Just look at that massive wingspan on the B787!:
