Show Aerien Le Luc, 21 July

Post by Slijfie »

On a scorching hot 21 July, the l’école de l’aviation légère de l’armée de Terre (EALAT) held an open day at its home base Le Luc. As I was on vacation only 75 km away in Nice, this was an opportunity not to be missed.
Most helicopters on static were open to the public, only the NH90s and Tigres were tightly surrounded with barriers. The show saw many demos with ALAT-helicopters, Ramex Delta (not half as good as they were at Volkel) and two Marine Rafales beating up the place. And lots of light aircraft, a DC-3, P-51 and more stuff I forgot. My personal highlights, an E-2 and Atlantique, did not show up, or I missed them. Sorry, no numbers.

Four French Tigres flew.

And a German one. Some Heer-Tigers are based here.

Very nice was the 'dogfight' between a French and a German EC-665.

A good looking new chopper.

The oldies were still going strong.

Thanks for watching!

This show is not held every year, as far as I know. But there should be good spots at the fence to watch and shoot helicopters. And of course there are plenty of other interesting airports and airbases in this area. For instance, I saw a C-17 taking off from Nice airport while I was on the beach.
