spangdahlem 10/10 returning A-10 and open skies Ukranian AN?

Post by E. Schoonderwoerd »

Seen at 10/10.

Four leaving :( A-10's (to Lajes I'v read) under cs Cafe46. Was only able to catch two of them with the number 965 and 976.
(no other A-10 activity)

Enclosed a cropped picture of one them.

Furthermore a Ukranian AN, high above the field. Also a cropped picture encloses. Open Skies I guess. The only number readable from the picture is the number 80 in yellow/gold on the fuselage near the tail.

The Ukraine An-30 is a known one as an open skies flight, here is a picture from it at Ramstein in 2004:

That would be very bad..... if they already leave now in small groups. According to my source at SP, the unit will be deactivated officially in April 2012. Of course, could mean that the unit by then is only a "paper" one :-(

It wouldn't be the first time that an official event (ceremony) takes place quite some time after the last aircraft has left...

A sad moment... I was at Spang monday 1st October: bright sun, no planes... I guess that was a sign...
