North Weald 09.09.12

Post by DeanW »

Today was the Norwegian Wings over North Weald event which saw considerable participation from Norway, including F16s, Herc, T33 and Vampires!

This small event is one of the highlights of my season so far..

Wow, big Norwegian influence! Nice! Although the T-33 doesn't really count, in my opinion. The Norwegian roundel on that one looks very out of place...

It really was a superb effort from the Norwegians. The T-33 is actually a CT-133, and it's currently wearing a Canadian scheme with Norwegian roundels over it. I believe the plan is to repaint the aircraft in an authentic RNoAF scheme before the beginning of next season.

I beg to differ. The roundel and the chessboard on the tail is exactly how the Norwegian T-33 were with 718 SQN from 1953 to 1968, except for it being in ghost(grey) scheme. I love it and find it very appropriate.

This is only somewhat correct. The gray Canadian paint scheme is not the original RCAF paint scheme for this aircraft. It is in fact RCAF F-18 insignias brought over to this airframe, thus not original. Current marking is chessboard and roundels in ghost scheme of 718 SQN.
