Corfu CFU may/june 2012

I spend twelf days on Corfu island, new and great experience
if you ask me, this is one of the best airports to take pictures in europe
very photogenic, good conditions, sunny, nice angles, various planes, good coffee/beer shops surrounding you, what do you want more,
only on wednesday and thursday is the traffic poor but enough another things to do on the island
so have fun

I hate to spoil the fun, but what are you expecting to find in Gouvia? There used to be a seaplane base there, but the company that operated it (AirSea Lines) went out of business more than two years ago; its Twin Otters turned up in Malta at one point if I'm not mistaken. Edit: just checked: SX-BVP (msn 283) became 8Q-MBD in december 2010; SX-BMG (msn 375) became 8Q-MBF in september 2010; both aircraft now operated by Maldivian Air taxi... Nothing there except beautiful yachts and the ruins of an ancient Venetian wharf...

But, for the rest, lovely shots that bring back many fond memories of the island and the airport. Is the derelict but ex-Dutch Starfighter still present in the grass next to the runway?

Did you see the big Cruise ship in the back from the overview photo?..
It has the TUI logo on it's exhaust just like the 767..
