Photoheavy trip to Frankfurt-Munich-Innsbruck-Zurich 03-2012

Post by nustyR »

A few weeks ago i spend a long week to visit Frankfurt, Munich, Innsbruck and Zurich.
I edited in 2 sizes ( which I regret after all  )
1024 pix; these shots go to ATI or are not that good
1280 pix; good enough for the web, to bad for ATI

Frankfurt, day 1, 2 and 3

The weather at Frankfurt turned out to be terrible, 20 degrees with a hazy blue / white sky isn't my thing. It was hard to find some 'action'.
Although I noticed some potential good spots which I 'll visit when the time and weather is right.

1 Arty-farty Lufty A346

Image

2 One of my goals; 787

Image

3 I love this one; B-2086 Air China landing at the 'new runway'.

Image

4 B-2086 Air China 777-300ER taxing to the gate. You get 2 shots for the price of one

Image

5 Head-on with her majesty

Image

6 Lufty Queen

Image

7 Italian Embraer, taken at spot 5. They've build some concrete 'hill' for spotting purposes. I think it's way to small when the 'general public' finds that spot.

Image

8 Bye-bye BMI, I loved this livery

Image

9 AirCanada at sunset

Image

10 TAM near that terrible spot along the A5, I hate the noise coming from the highway

Image

11 'Wir lieben fliegen' at sunrise

Image

12 Lufty 346, taken with 700mm and still you 've to crop . Everything happens so far away.

Image

13 Arty-farty Lufty A346

Image

14 Air Dolomiti

Image

15 Taxing after landing at the new runway.

Image

16 Take a look inside engine 2

Image

17 Early morning postmen

Image

18 AirCanada

Image

19 Not the worst angle for an A380 :D

Image

20 Whale plane

Image

21 I like the shadow from the tail.

Image

22 Finally, I 've found a good 'banking-spot'.

Munich day 3 and 4.
This airport is a true banking and spotting paradise !

23 SIA 777-300ER departing to Manchester at sunrise.

Image

24 SIA 777-300ER, One of my favourite banking-shots ever.

Image

25 Sunrise

Image

26 Overview with 3 very nice planes in one shot.

Image

27 I was lucky to get this RA82068 AN-124 from Polet Airlines in front of my lens.

28 RA82068 AN-124 Polet Airlines

Image

29 RA82068 AN-124 Polet Airlines

Image

30 Which engine is closer by ?

Image

31 A380

Image

32 Banking paradise

Image

33 It's not hard to shoot those tiny planes like A319's in a banking position.

Image

34 Lufty 343

Image

35 US-airways from the spottershill

Image

36 Germanwings

Image

37 Norwegian

38 Emirates A380 banking ( backlight warning )

Innsbruck, day 4, 5 , 6 and 7

Innsbruck was very disappointing, the weather was terrible and with only 12 flights a day the traffis was light. I'll be back
The rest of my time I spend with my girlfriend. She flew with Transavia from Rotterdam to Innsbruck, for the same amount of money I spend on Diesel between Frankfurt and Munich
I took 2 shots worth of showing here.

39 After hours and kilometres of driving I ended up with a nice shot from Transavia coming in from Rotterdam,.......... :please!:

Image

40 D-ABLB AirBerlin 737 turning base-leg for runway 08 circle to land at Innsbruck. Taken from my holiday apartment.

Zurich, day 7, 8, 9 and 10

What can i say; this airport is so fun to visit, lots of good photo-spots, nice traffic, lots of fog in the morning and the awesome 270 degrees-departures. I love it :D

41 Swiss A330 landing with some nice vortexes.

Image

42 Singapore A380 landing with a huge concensation cloud on top over her wings.

Image

43 Seconds later.

44 THAI A340-600, taken from the parkhaus.

Image

45 A7-AHS Qatar A320, panning at 1/32, taken from the parkhaus.

46 HB-JMB, taken from the parkhaus.

Image

47 HB-IZH Saab 2000 Darwin

Image

48 Note the reflection from the gear in the belly.

49 Landing with engine-vortex and a small condensation-cloud on the wing. Taken just after sunrise.

50 US Airways

51 N657UA landing at a foggy morning at sunrise

52 Scary take off from this Turkish 737

Image

53 TC-JHE Turkish Airlines took off after all.

54 M-ONAV Hawker Beechcraft 900XP taking off at sunset.

Image

55 SIA A380 take-off ( with heathaze  )

Image

56 SIA A380 banking ( with backlight  )

Image

57 N154DL Delta 767 landing @ sunrise

Image

58 A321 Swiss, I like the reflection on the tarmac.

As someone who isn't a massive fan of civilian aircraft shooting because the shots often look the same, it's refreshing to see someone who likes to create something different! Excellent work as always, very inspirational for when I try shooting civilian aircraft.

Looks like you had quite a drive. Nice set all the way. Thanks for posting.

Damn, Rusty is singlehandedly raising the bar for airplane photography. Not just around Schiphol, but also in Germany, Austria and Switzerland now!
