little trip US. Day 9, Portland (Photo).

Post by stipjes »

Because of the boring dark day we decided to go to the US. A long stopover was an option zo we went to Phoenix via Minneasota.
First we visited the ANG museum on the 27th;

After that we went to Ohakea County;

We finished with a F-86H in Minneapolis and KFC, then we took a plane to Phoenix where we ended half dead...

No wonder you didn't pick up the phone yesterday...you're already in the US! :D

So, you're finally back at AMARG. Your promise to yourself to visit AMARG every four years is still on schedule then?

Have a good time overthere, and see you soon!

hello Patrick,

you really have some nice pics from the AMARG overflight :D

Could you tell me how many millimeters there were taken at?
We're gonna do the flight in March, but we were wondering if more than 200mm is needed

thanks!

little trip US. Day 3, AMARG "new arrivals" (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

Day 3 of our trip we used to take pictures in the museum-, rit and C-130 storage area. In the afternoon we went to the Pima Air Museum.
Since last year (or before?) AMARG stopped using the parking codes system :-(.... Here are some "new" arrivals with the full serial presented (i.s.o. the parking code).
4 FT C-130's were flying from Davis Monthan, 2 just arrived at AMARG.
Image
Also the first Ramstein C-21's arrived......
Image
T-41's were still going strong recently is seems.
Image
With all the T-43 withdrawn most of them are parked at AMARG now.
Image
One of the many F-15's.
Image
Canadian CH-147's!
Image
More and more F-16's arrive (to be converted to QF-16's soon)?
Image
DC-130!
Image
And is this one of the last ANG C-130E's to have arrived?
Image

Tomorrow we will do the bus tour and after we will be on our way to Nellis....

@ Koen, 200mm is indeedie enough but with 300 you can get the fighters too a bit. Keep your lens inside the plane while circling, that works fine. Contact Kelly Aviation, she is great!!!!

Patrick,

thanks for the advice on the airborne shots.
we have booked 2 flights with Double Eagle Aviation to maximize the number of passes we can do. I've seen very good feedback on them as well

Koen

little trip US. Day 5, Nellis, what a day!!!! (Photo)

Post by stipjes »

Today we had a great day at Nellis. The Viking is for me already the visitor of the year! Tomorrow we will try Nellis from the outside since we were not allowed to photograph the B-57 and OT and HL a/c. But no complaining at all! Hope you enjoy the pics!
