ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

I had the apportunity to go on base to photograph the last flight of two pilots. Conditions were very poor unfortunately. Here is an impression of the day:

1. Visiting Leeuwarden F16BM

2. Lifeliner 3 stand-in

Is it allowed to give the names, or if that is not appropriate, only the callsigns of these two gentlemen?

NEVER EVER, IS THIS ALLOWED!!

Even more, you can get in serious trouble if you publish names of millitary personnel without proper authorisation.

Unless you have have written authorisation from all kinds of organisations, do NOT publish names.
Trust me, i know!

First of all, I fully agree that one should not name people's names on forums without their explicit consent.

However when it comes to getting into trouble and breaking laws etc - I'm afraid that you are wrong.

While it is a matter of professional and common courtesy not to include people's names in publications unless you have been given permission to do so, I know of no Dutch law to prohibit this. In fact, the Dutch constitution protects freedom of press under Article 7 - and the above case would be covered under paragraph 7.1. The law on freedom of speech has limitations as defined in article 10, paragraph 10. 2 (EVRM) but would not apply here.

Active censorship under the banner of national security is rarely enforced by the courts unless it is a direct threat to the security of the State, the Dutch society or immediately jeopardizes the security of government personnel (e.g. leaking of military plans regarding combat operations in Afghanistan, leaking of details on police investigations, undercover officers etc.)

Again, I fully agree that people should not post names of others (regardless if they are military or otherwise) without their consent but we not need to be scared of the boogeyman either.

Hmm, this is not the Soviet union just common courtesy.
But please tell us what your experience is.

I agree with previous poster that names should never be given unless explicitly authorised.

Why this urgent need for their names/callsigns? If you don't know them, it is probably none of your business.
