LIME/BGY Milan Orio al Serio - 19/11/11

Post by Dysko »

Hi,
here are some shots taken yesterday at Orio al Serio, an airport dedicated to low-cost carriers (Ryanair owns most of the slots) and some cargo flights (mainly DHL postal services).
The most waited plane was an ATU Cargo Tupolev Tu-204, but it didn't show up (unless it arrived when it was too dark to take photos). Fortunately, there has been another surprise: an Airbus A300 flown by the Lebanese TMA Cargo:

Thank you for watching :)

Some nice shots from this airport I used to visit regularly in my previous job. On my last visit I noted OY-HOT, a bright red Dauphin. Probably no coincidence that you saw sistership OY-HOI this time. Do you have an idea what these Danish choppers are doing there, so far away from home?

I'm sure they are based in Orio. It is quite common for Italian aircraft to be registered abroad due to heavy taxation: almost all gliders are registered in Germany, general aviation planes are mainly registered in Germany, in the UK or in the USA and it is very common to see helicopters with Spanish registrations.

As of their purpose, I don't know what it may be. OY-HOI made 3 flights that day: the first and the last flight were quite long and far from the airport, the second flight was a training flight (the pilot clearly stated by radio he was going to make training circuits on Orio's smaller general aviation runway, and it did so for more than half an hour). My guess is that they are privately owned.
