Forum rules
ImageThis is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum.
Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post.
In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.).

Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so.

Banter wrote:Yes , this was an intercept (although procedures say the interceptor should stay out of sight !). Crew failed to make contact with Maastricht ACC after handover from Reims. Many attempts were made to make contact including calling the Airline Ops Center in Barcelona to see if they could ACARS the aircraft. My understanding is they face paying a possible ''call out '' fee of upto 5000euro
Sorry Banter, but second part is not correct, VY8366 was entering Paris Contrôle sector 8.1 at UN858 routing DEVRO, VANAD, VADOM. The intercept took place between VANAD and VADOM at FL380 with "lost comms" with Paris Control.

Although only one Mirage 2000 is visible in the video, making the close up ID of the Veuling and getting the cockpit crew's attention to respond / come on the radio, probably a second Mirage is behind in covering position behind ready to act.

Have you actually heard it was Lost comms (which is very likely in my opinion) or is it just a Asumption?
Further, check this link, search for UN858 and you will notice they should have worked with Brest instead of Paris accoarding that document when flying UN858. Please Advise?

High altitude airway UN858 runs northbound from Brest into Paris ARTCC (between BOKNO and DEVRO, just south of Tours), I assume they never checked in with Paris.

Yes, you are right Paris must be Brest....!! Paris UAC < FL285 Brest UAC > FL285. Lost comms is the most likely, not heard Joost.

Hi, didn't anybody pick up any ATC comms regarding this intercept. If This is an alpha scramble because pilot did not respond to ATC calls, shouldn't the pilot or the Mirage contact ATC once he finished checking out the aircraft?

That's your own fault, you always nicely do what those French guys ask ;-) It isn't that hard to change to the wrong freq isn't it ;-)
