Tuesday and Wednesday I visited Manchester as I was "in the neighbourhood" (well near Birgminham). Manchester is a great airport for spotting. Especially on the South-side of the airport many oppertunities can be found by walking on the many public foothpaths surrounding the airport. Manchester has two runways, however between 10.30 and 16.00 they revert to single-runway operations due to noise restrain rules. Traffic isn't overly busy, but you can find some nice airlines and types at Manchester, including a lot of the English charter companies, Virgin, Etihad, Emirates and Qatar. Emirates is operating two flights a day, the day flight with the A380.
Here some pics from Tuesday which didn't see much sun during the day.
Nice little regional airline from Ireland, Aer Arran:
You can get really close to the action for cracking head-on shots while lining up. Two A330's from Virgin were seen, like this G-VKSS:
All big American carriers operate into Manchester, like USAirways:
Thomsonfly B757 lining up for runway 05L:
First Choice is officially merged with Thomsonfly, however some planes are still flying in their own colors, like this B767:
Nice Paki ready for take-off:
It took me about three planes before I realised it wasn't an A319, but an A320!:
VTOP on it's way to the US:
How much luggage is allowed?:
Just a nice local:
Qatar taking off for Doha:
While taxiing to the runway, the Emirates A380 came close to the Aviation Viewing Park:
And rolling on the runway during take-off:
Last shot for the day was this good looking B777-300 from Etihad:
Hope you liked them!
Cheers!
